Twayne's Authors Database Migration FAQ

Effective April 30, 2011, Twayne’s Authors Series will be in eBook format with Literature Resources from Gale

To ensure your library can provide the best online resources in the most powerful and flexible format Gale-Cengage Learning has moved our Twayne’s Authors resources from database format to the Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) eBook platform. This change offers access to these award-winning titles with all of the robust functionality available on Gale’s GVRL platform, including improved citation tools including MLA 7, content language translation, enhanced search options, improved print, email and download functions and ReadSpeaker technology. By using the new Literature Resources from Gale platform Twayne’s Authors can be cross-searched with literature resources from Gale.

For more than half a century, Twayne’s has offered concise critical introductions to the lives and works of writers, to the history and influence of literary movements, and to the development of literary traditions. Twayne’s Authors Online includes more than 600 books from the following acclaimed Twayne’s Author series: Twayne’s World Authors, Twayne’s English Authors, and Twayne’s U.S. Authors. Researchers can quickly find targeted results by searching for a specific author or exploring thematic and chronological topics.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What do I need to do to have the eBooks added to my account?
If you access the NOVEL resources available from Gale from the Gale Common Menu the collection will be added automatically. If your library uses direct links to these resources you will need to modify those direct links prior to June 30, 2011. Example:

Current URL: http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/loc-id?db=Twayne
New URL: http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/loc-id?db=GVRL.xlit.twayne
  (substitute loc-id with the Gale ID for your library)

Does this change how we access this content in Literature Resource Center now?
You will need to ensure you are now linking to Literature Resources from Gale. Contact the Gale Technical Support team at 800-877-4253 Option 4 or gale.technicalsupport@cengage.com and request the direct URLs for your account.

Can I access the eBooks outside of Literature Resource Center?
Yes-on your Gale resource menu there are now additional links that lead directly to the eBook collections. Contact the Gale Technical Support team at 800-877-4253 Option 4 or gale.technicalsupport@cengage.com and request the direct URLs for your account.

Can links to the eBook collections be added to my library website?

Why do I not see usage reported for Twayne’s?
Usage is still collected and reported for your library for these eBooks. This data is now included with the total usage reported for Gale Virtual Reference Library.

Will I have access to new volumes of these collections?
Yes-As new volumes of the various series are released they will automatically be added to your collection.
